David Bullard: The Bullog launches – officially!

bullard4567.jpgSo it’s official. At the end of this weeks’ Bullard column, one that explores a range of issues about bloggers and the blogosphere once again, comes the announcement:

The final irony is that, thanks to the bloggers, I now have my own blog, which serves me right. I should have kept my mouth shut.

Introducing: The Bullog at the Times

Colin, David and I have been strategising and developing the idea of The Bullog since National Bullog Day. This blog is very special, firstly because it is David Bullard’s official blog, secondly because this is the first (and definitely not the last) blog powered by The Times , and thirdly because its content will (as expected) spark much discussion and debate.

What is exciting is that The Bullog will take the idea, the principle, and the theory (if there is such) of blogging to a new dimension. Whilst having discussions with him and Colin about the opportunities for this blog it became quite apparent that this will be something very different, new, and exciting, something that A LOT of readers will be looking forward too, and not just bloggers, but also his print readership.

The Bullog is ground-breaking because here we have a print columnist (13 years of ink stains on his hands, at least) who has established much interest, time, and enthusiasm about what is happening in the online sphere. Furthermore, he is the only print columnist in the country (so far) who is not only a blogger, but also a podcaster, and a vodcaster. He truly is our first multimedia columnist!

Enjoy his introductory video, and look out, cause The Bullog is out there!

Isn’t it embarrassingly ironic that most, if not all, of Bullard’s so-called “interest, time and enthusiasm about what is happening in the online sphere” has been evidenced in his adoption of a smugly negative and accusatory stance against bloggers and blogging? That he has chosen (with persuasion from the ST new media team, I’m sure) to start and maintain a blog of his own is a move so deeply ironic I’m sure many can only conclude that Bipolar Bullard is drowning in his own whimsical wave of self-infatuation.

I am still trying to work out the actual valuable content of what the Dullard has to say. Due to all the interest I figured he must have had something substantive to say. But unfortunately not; it seems the interest is as a result of the narcissism of the blogosphere; and not because of any valuable insight.

abongile 14 May 2007, 15:45 (since Michaels comment on my blog is nearly identical)

“As for you Michael Salzwedel…take a hike and probably tie your curly hair into a pony tail (then you might wake up and smell the coffee…David Bullard is simply annoyingly, witty and superbly humorous and we love it! if you can’t understand that…take a hike to Mt Everest…you might get frozen for a while…and believe me dear it will do wonders to your sense of humour!”
